An “Add to Freya” button for your itineraries

Readers love your itinerary and want to do the trip with their friends. One tap on “Add to Freya” turns your post into a group trip plan: every stop on its day, found in Apple Maps, ready for the group to vote, split up and go.

How it works for your readers

  1. They click Add to Freya on your post.
  2. Freya’s itinerary builder opens with your plan, every stop on its day. They can change anything before they save it.
  3. They choose Add to Freya, open it on their iPhone, and invite their friends.

Your post stays the place people read the plan. The button is for the moment they decide to actually go, which is when they want it in their trip app, not in a browser tab.

Add the button to a post

3a. The quick way: point the button at your itinerary

Give the part of your post with the itinerary an id (like id="itinerary"), then add this where you want the button. Freya reads that part of the page when someone clicks.

Questions

Is the button free?

Yes. There's nothing to sign up for. Copy the snippet into your post.

Does it track my readers?

No. The script sets no cookies and sends nothing until a reader clicks. The click opens Freya's itinerary builder with the plan in the page address, after the #, which isn't sent to any server.

Will it slow down my page?

No. The script is about 3 KB, loads after your page, and doesn't load anything else.

What if my itinerary isn't in a neat format?

Freya reads day headings like “Day 2” or “Saturday”, times like “9am”, and places with their addresses, and puts descriptions under each stop in its note. Readers check the plan before they add it. For an exact match, use the snippet that carries the plan with the button.

Can I use my own button style?

Yes. Add data-freya-unstyled to the link and style it like any other link on your site. Please keep the words “Add to Freya” so readers know what it does.
